Mtindo Design Studio, a social enterprise in Uganda was awarded $2000 after emerging winner in the SDG Impact Challenge organized by B Lab East Africa.
As part of a community of impact-based businesses in Africa working towards the achievement of Agenda 2030, they will also access B Lab’s SDG Action Manager tool to help them measure and track their impact on the Sustainable Development Goals.
In line with SDG 5 on Gender Equality, this grant will enable the apparel company to expand their financial training and solutions to women in Uganda.

Mtindo envisions a world where every woman has the skills and the confidence to design her own future. The SDG impact challenge allowed our team to take a closer look at all the ways we empower women. We realized that our effort to create dignified jobs for women in our community could be strengthened by pairing our jobs with a savings community through the implementation of a SACCO in our design studio. When women earn a living wage and they are supported in saving for their future, they have the financial freedom to design a life they love. We believe employment is empowerment!
